Don't
let your dreams die too early -
What is your purpose for living if not to achieve your
dreams?
In February 2008, Michael Anthony was diagnosed
with a rare form of leukemia. In March 2008, the doctors told him that he
had only 3 days to live. The doctors offered him only a very slim ray of
hope – using very extreme heavy-duty chemotherapy, much more than a normal
dose — with no guarantees that he would live through it.
After consultation with his family, Michael
decided to take a chance and proceed with the doctors' recommendations.
During the next month, there were many times when he wished he had just moved
on. The pain and the sickness from the chemo was almost more than he could
bear.
After a month, the doctors told him that the
chemo had not stopped the cancer, that he was no better after the treatments,
that he should go home and prepare to die. That he had maybe a few days or
a week at most to live.
Michael did what the doctors told him — went
home from the hospital, wrote his obituary, updated his will, told his family
and friends that he was dying, and then he waited.
Shortly before all this happened, Michael had
contacted me, a long-time friend and former business partner, to help him edit
and finish a book he had been working on for several years, Income Without a
Job. I agreed to work with him to finish the book.
When I learned that Michael was given only a
very short time to live, I drew on all my powers of prayer and focused
concentration to do a rough edit and get a few copies of the book printed so
that he could at least see how it could look in book form while he was still
with us. I constantly reminded Michael of what he had taught me years ago
– how to focus your mind and not to believe anyone else’s predictions about
how long we might have to live. I was reminded of the many friends of mine
who had achieved success against impossible odds, and those who had lived many
years past dire medical predictions. And, reminded Michael of some of the
good work he had already done in his life.
When Michael saw a draft copy of the book in
his hands, he knew he had one more reason to live. He began to remember
the purpose of his being; his need to offer what he knows to those who have a
sincere desire to learn. When Michael’s family and friends rallied
around him and demonstrated how much they loved him, he really
knew he had a reason to live longer and with even more caring.
So, by April 2008, Michael altered his
will. He decided that he would take control of his life again and not give
away control to the doctors. He decided that he was not ready to die —
that he had many reasons to stick around and continue to do the things he had
wanted to do for a long time.
An amazing thing
happened. Michael’s blood tests suddenly returned to almost
normal. His doctors were amazed. He did not die; he prospered.
Michael realized that he had let his proven
ability to help others drift away, years passing without achieving his ultimate
dreams while he allowed others to set his agenda and his priorities. He forgot
what he had always known — that he is in charge of his own life.
In Income Without a Job, we (Michael and
Barbara) share what we have taught for the past 25 years: how to succeed in
business, how to use the inherent power that everyone has within them to improve
your life for the better, how to achieve your dreams – in a step-by-step
fashion. Some of the greatest teachers known to us have
taught the same thing:
- Jesus – "This
too and more you can do." "Ask and it shall be given to you."
"Seek and Ye Shall Find."
- Earl Nightingale – "We
are what we think about."
- Mark Victor Hansen — "Your
belief determines your action and your action determines your results, but
first you have to believe."
- Donald Trump — "I knew I was
destined to succeed, and I kept focused on that belief. I’m very
tenacious ... and I don’t give up.
- Wayne Dyer — "You’ll See It When
You Believe It. "
- Henry David Thoreau — "If
one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavors to
live the life he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in
common hours."
- Napoleon Hill — "What
ever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve."
- Reverend Dr. Peggy Bassett
— "The best thing you can do for poor people is not become one of
them.
The greatest
assets you can ever have are already yours. You own them.
You were
born with them — your mind, your heart, your emotions, your desires and your
dreams.
You and only you have the ability to achieve your dreams. No one
else can do it for you.
However, if you don’t listen to yourself, the
rest of the world can keep you from achieving your dreams or living your life to
the fullest.
It was Michael Anthony who
says:
Just as Michael’s doctors told him that he
only had a few days to live, how many others have told you that your dreams didn’t
matter, that you could not achieve what you believed you wanted for
yourself?
How long will you
listen to others instead of listening to yourself?
Will you die with your
dreams still inside you, never fulfilled?
Or, will you take the next step
and break free from what others think — to set your own life course using the
power you already have.
In Income Without a Job, we (Michael and
Barbara) will guide you through the process of breaking free of an 8 to 5
dead-end job — giving away your soul and your life for the dollars that
someone pays you — and show you how you too can be everything you want to be;
how you can achieve the dreams that are waiting to burst forth from within you.
What is your life
worth?
What is your purpose for living if not to achieve your
dreams?
Will you take the next step and unlock the dreams inside you?
As of the date of the publication of our book,
Michael is alive and growing stronger by the day, for he never really believed
it was time for his demise. He believes that it is still his destiny to
help others conquer the negativities of life.
Signed,
Barbara

PS: Update
January 2012: It's been almost 4 years since Michael
was told by his doctors that he only had a few days to live. Today, he
is thriving, with no sign of leukemia in his body. His doctors are
stumped. For all those who believe in miracles and those who are not
sure, his story is truly one of the miracles. Those who know him
continue to be grateful every single day for the miracle that keeps him with
us. If there is ever a reason to follow your own dream, this is
it. Today may be the last day you spend here on this physical Earth or
today may be the day that your life takes a different turn and becomes the
one that changes your entire life's course. Every day offers a brand
new choice.
PS: Update June
2014: I am very sorry to report that Michael Anthony
departed this earthly life on June 8, 2014. He fought a valiant and
courageous fight against a number of heath issues, supported by loving
family and friends for more than 6 years after the doctors gave him
no hope of living more than a few days. He will be deeply missed by
all who loved him and benefited from his presence in their lives.
