2010 - True Community - Revisited
Our planned move to Southern California is taking longer than we expected, so
for this month's article, we'd like to revisit the concept of "True
Community."
In light of the many debates and demonstrations of concern for a religious
group who wants to open a new center in New York City, and talks starting again
in the Middle East, we hope that reasonable people can find ways in their heart
and their minds to know that peace is possible in our world.
It takes maturity and perseverance and insight to look at our own
"stuff" — our personal imprinting, our
beliefs about other people and our personal "stories" of who is right
or wrong — then decide to make peace something
we are willing to make some small effort to attain.
What you and I and our families and our friends and our neighbors do in a
peaceful way on a daily basis will collectively help us move closer to
peace. If we can do that, it will grow until more people can see that
peaceful living is much preferable to constant warfare over issues that don't
matter nearly as much as the people in our own lives.
Therefore, we'd like our readers to re-read our November 2007 articles on
True Community and think about what is really important to you this month.
May this month be one of peace and joy for you in whatever way makes you
happy!
