Meditation

May I be an instrument of peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is loss, return.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is sadness, joy.

Let me not so much seek
  To be consoled as to console,
  To be understood as to understand,
  To be loved as to love.
For it is in pardoning that I am pardoned,
  And in giving that I receive.
In forgiving, that I begin to know forgiveness,
  And in dying that I prepare for life.
