Daily Centering or Meditation Exercise
- Resources (links, books, articles, the
lighter side)
This exercise is excellent for getting yourself centered and ready for your
day. If done daily, it will change your life. How? By helping
you be calmer, more grounded and clearer about who you are vs. all the pressures
that life can throw our way. It can help to get rid of unwanted energy
that tends to get mixed in with our own energy if we are not paying
attention.
- Start by finding a comfortable place to sit — with
your back straight, your feet flat on the floor (uncrossed) and your hands
on your legs (palms up, uncross).
- Take a few deep breaths and letting your body relax.
- Imagine a cord from the base of your spine going deep into the
Earth. The cord will be a drain to let any unwanted energy go back
into the Earth.
- Now, imagine a ball of light about 8-12 inches wide above your head.
It should be a color that you feel represents "you"
energetically. If you re not sure what color to choose, then imagine
the color gold like the Sun.
- Now, let that ball of your own energy move down through your chakras,
pushing out any unwanted energy down through your body into the cord at the
base of your spine and down into the Earth.
- Let the ball of your own energy swirl about your 7th chakra (the crown
or top of your head), pushing out anything unwanted there.
- Then, move down into the 6th chakra (your "third eye" -
about your forehead), letting the ball of your energy cleanse that area.
- Then, move down to the 5th chakra (your throat area), letting the ball
of your energy that area.
- Then, move down to the 4th chakra (your heart area), letting the ball
of your energy cleanse that area.
- Then, move down to the 3rd chakra (your solar plexus/stomach), letting
the ball of your energy cleanse that area.
- Then, move down to the 2nd chakra (your sexual organs), letting the
ball of your energy cleanse that area.
- Then, move down to the 1st chakra (the base of your spine), letting
the ball of your energy cleanse that area.
- Let all the unwanted energy push itself deep down into the Earth.
- Take a deep breath and relax.
- Now, imagine the energy of the Earth coming up through the bottoms of your
feet, filling your legs with its richness, then continuing up through your
clean chakras until it burst forth from the top of your head.
And, feel the energy of your own energy mix with the energy of Earth as it
moves up through your spine and your chakras.
- Allow the energy of the Earth to overflow all around the outside of your
body like a fountain so that you are wrapped in the combined energy of our
own and of the Earth.
You can stay like that as long as you are comfortable, or do the exercise and
go about your day. When you are ready to come back to the present reality,
close down the opening at the top of your head and at the base of your spine so
that you are holding your own energy for the rest of the day.
Thank the Sun and the Earth for helping you and sharing their powerful energy
with you.
This energetic exercise will last 3-4 hours. If you find yourself
getting stressed during the day, you can stop for a few minutes and do the
exercise quickly to restore your balance.
As you learn to do it more easily, you will find you can do it very quickly
to "reset" your energetic self back into balance. It's
particularly helpful to do a quick chakra balancing exercise before entering a
chaotic situation or a meeting that has potential conflicts.

women. It is most commonly associated with the color Orange and governs creativity,

with the color Red and is related to your connection to the Earth, survival and
instinct.
There are many other chakras in the body though 2 sets are used
regularly.
- The palms of the hands have significant chakras. These
are used in dowsing, hands on healing, the gentle touch of a friend or a mother
comforting a child.
- The chakras in the soles of the feet help us to connect with the
Earth.
Notes:
- There is not total agreement about the colors associated with the
chakras. Everyone pretty much agrees on which colors, just may not
agree on which colors belong with which chakras.
- There are also different opinions about what position to use for
meditation or chakra cleansing exercises. We prefer sitting in a
chair. Some people are more comfortable lying down, others may like
the lotus position or a kneeling position. Use whatever works for you.
